EATQS / Ethereal and the Queer Show who brought us to the wonderful space, Fairy Super Crystal Blue, on their last work return as Emotional Indulgence.
In aura photography, pink suggests intuition, sensitivity, compassion and a proclivity to facilitate psychical healing/mending. From the start, Emotional Indulgence is a swell of pink noise, a comfortability with the open fields of the heart. Way over the brim, Daniel and Juliana (previously working as EATQS/Ethereal and the Queer Show) continue to explore the limitlessness of the affections as Emotional Indulgence. For me, the yearning in their sound gives their compositions the very human and empathetic sense that there is never enough life. The tipping point slides up each time we poke a hole in the ceiling. There’s a certain conscience and microcosm for each song. “Beyond in a blue feel” would be in good company with Bedhead, another Texan treasure. Emotional Indulgence confidently explores sound palettes from the 80’s & 90’s while remaining contemporary throughout. Slippery MIDI dunes sifting/shifting between a harmonium, a woodwind and a voice bring John Hassell’s Fourth World and John Adams’ Hoodoo Zephyr to mind, though the sonic space Juliana & Daniel build is wholly their own. The listener feels a sense of both privilege and reticence being allowed to witness these intensely intimate and vulnerable pieces.

a word I can describe this album with is legit "cool"
the album name, art and track names are cool, the use of samples/stems from '100% Electronica' (the album) is cool, the different styles within each track is cool, you get the point.
this is my favourite album of 2017 and a close contender for best album of all time in my opinion, no joke. it's a wild ride from start to finish and even if there is no actual destination it will leave you feeling said ride was definately worth it anyway. it works so well as a sister album and even just an album by itself. please if you haven't already, give it a listen.
