quasiotter i've listened to this 7+ times in the past few months, thought it was pretty good. today, it was interesting background music until broken chorus hit. that was the moment this clicked for me. took it for another spin with a newfound appreciation. a touching experience. Favorite track: Broken Chorus.

about

“Falling” was composed in transit between the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles, during which Julius Smack researched locomotion and technology. Inspired by social theory, Julius Smack uses songwriting as a vehicle for investigating the theoretical affect of malaise, indifference, and fear. For Julius Smack, the present velocity of information and travel generates an instability of perception, producing a constant dissociation—the launching point for the conceptual platform for this album. Modernity privileges expansion and development, evident in the constant erection of skyscrapers, aviation, and “the cloud.” Julius Smack theorizes a concurrent social collapse, where ethics are in a state of free-fall and where information, time, and space are blurred in the form of the constant stream of information known as “the feed.”
