The words for this piece were the first element of the album that was recorded, in April 2020. It was actually a collaborative text for a short clown video we were making remotely with each other for fun during quarantine. This was while our first album was still being finished. The flute and electronic music behind the voice was recorded on New Year's Day 2021. Shortly after that in January, the first full song on the album we rehearsed and recorded was Willy O’ Winsbury.
The title “healing in progress” came from a funny thig that happened where I worked….one day in the hallway I came across what looked like a little bundle of cardboard in the shape of a log just laying against a wall by itself. It was wrapped up in white gauze, with a note attached to it that said “healing in progress.” I don’t know who left it there.
lyrics
“Yes I see you looking at my reflection.
That’s not your reflection, it’s mine.
Why are you crying?”
“Your daughter’s taxes took ages……
“It’s time to go back to work because a long time ago
we had given up water in favor of wallpaper -
seasonable, fashionable, and according to
our whim.”
“I like to say I see you, I hear you
And…..i wrangled that damn machine like a champion
I like to say
Crack open another brewskie buddy
…….
Healing in progress
Healing in progress I say
I am the inverted sun
and let me crush
and strike
the jealous, before I depart from here
My beautiful friend
by God, this never be:
that out of jealousy one scoffs at my harm

they picked the cotton that saved the world. that picked cotton propelled u.s. economy; a unique capitalist setup. (though anglo saxon colonizers are not unique.) so many pop stars and hip hop billboard mainstays trumpet u.s. capitalism ad nauseam; or escapism & distraction.
"Don't Die," also powerful.
"i don't believe they lies. don't believe their truth, need they heads for proof" -- that's direct and powerful.
